Well we did it! We packed up and moved to the burbs. :) OK it really isn't very far out, but our new house and neighborhood are definitely different from our old one. While we will miss our old house, we are loving the new one, even if it is currently full of boxes and no furniture!
We closed on Wednesday and had to be out of the house by Thursday at 5. Because it was going to be a busy few days, Jax headed to Madre and Papa Bear's house on Tuesday. On his last day at the house I decided I needed a few more pictures of him at the house.
It was hard to believe that we were leaving the house that we brought Jax home to. I know he won't have any memories of this place and that brought more than a few tears.
The closing went smoothly (thank goodness!) and Thursday morning the movers were at our house bright and early. Jasper had some really important meetings in Frankfort that day so he couldn't be there. Luckily I was extremely organized for this move. Each box had a label stating when room it went to and each room in the new house had a label on the door saying what room it was. After the movers finished there were only 2 boxes in the wrong room! Unfortunately I got sick the day of the move, but luckily my father in law Mike was able to be with me all day to help which was wonderful.
By Friday we had Jax's room and enough of his things unpacked that my parents were able to bring him back up to see his new house!
I haven't taken any pictures of our house yet because each room is basically just packed with boxes. Here are a few pictures from the listing that show the rooms I am most excited about!
The Kitchen! I absolutely love this kitchen. Jasper has asked me if I will start cooking now that we have a big kitchen. Jury is still out on that one.
Eat in area of the kitchen. Our little round table would just look silly in this big space so we ordered a big farm house table and it arrived the night before closing. No pictures yet but I absolutely love it!
Mudroom. This is right off the garage and I am so glad there will be a dumping place in our house that isn't the dining room table.
Basement playroom: ok it is hard to tell much from this picture because it is empty, but I love this space for all of Jax's toys. We will have lots of fun down here. :) Also on the other side of the stairs is the room that will be our tv room. I like that when Jax gets older we can all enjoy being down there together.
The back patio. I have already ordered a baby pool and am looking for a water/sand table to stick out here. I can't wait to play outside this summer.
When my parents brought Jax up to the house they also brought Jasper a housewarming present, a basketball. Jasper loved the fact that our driveway has a basketball goal and can't wait to be out there playing with Jax some day (the goal also lowers down really low so Jax can play on it even sooner). So after Jax went to sleep Jasper and my dad played a little one on one.
I am sure we will have many more pictures to come once we are finally settled in. We have some motivation to get things unpacked quickly because we will be having Jax's birthday party here in 3 weeks!
