Birthday Boy

This morning my baby woke up a one year old.  A happy one year old at that!

This wasn't the first time we had seen him on his birthday though.  Jax decided to get the party start right after midnight.  Jax hardly ever wakes up during the night and when he does he goes back to sleep on his own.  Last night however, he woke up right around midnight and started screaming.  I went in and as soon as I picked him up out of the crib he stopped crying and smiled.  I think he knew something big was happening that day!  I decided to let him just snuggle with me a little in the chair before putting him back down.  Jax was born at 12:12am and I actually loved having him in my arms at that same moment one year later.

It is amazing how much things have changed in this one year, and how much they are the same.  Sure my son is a lot bigger than he was one year ago (though at 9 lbs 11.3 oz he certainly wasn't small then!), but he is still my little baby.   He laid on my chest just like he did right after his birth.  Melts a momma's heart!

Anyway, we had an absolutely wonderful day today.  At lunch Jax and I went downtown to meet Jasper.  We got to see everyone in the office and then eat out which was a lot of fun.  I take Jax to restaurants during the day pretty frequently, but not really at night because he goes to bed so early and Jasper and I don't like eating dinner at 4pm, so I think Jasper had fun eating out with Jax.

Jasper, Jax's grandparents, and his Uncle Kevin all came home from work early so they could come over and celebrate Jax's birthday.

We played,

Playing "upside down baby" with his Mikey.  This is one of Jax's favorite games.

Opened presents,

Not a bad day when you birthday presents include to forms of transportation and a house!

And ate some cake!

Pretty proud of myself because I did make his cake.  If you know me very well you know I am not known for my culinary skills.  I was having his cake made for his party, but wanted to make one myself for his birthday.

Not sure what Jax was more interested in, the cake or the candle.

Jax got into the cake pretty quickly.

Since he has never had any sugar before, I think the cake came as a shock to him.  A good one.

After the cake was done it was time for Jax's bath time/bed time routine.
He was a little messy and very tired from his big day.

Happy Birthday sweet Jax!
