Weekends in the Highlands

We live in an area called the Highlands and we love it here. I give Jasper a hard time because when we looked for our first apartment, we got one a whole 3/10 of a mile from his parents house where he grew up. When we bought our first house, Jasper's only criteria was that it be in the same zip code. Our house now is a whole 9/10 of a mile from his childhood home. Luckily, this area is so great I was completely on board with staying around here. There is lots to do and we don't take advantage of this area enough.

One thing we have been taking advantage of is the wonderful farmers market that opened up a couple of blocks from our house. It is always packed on Saturdays and even with the extreme heat it is fun to walk up to the market, grab some food and some fresh produce and enjoy the crowd and the music playing. Today we went up to the market with Jasper's cousin Genny and her son Jack. We had such a fantastic time.

As soon as we arrived Jack headed toward the playground. Jasper played with Jack while Genny and I chatted with some people and hung out on the bench. As she is pregnant right now, we figured she could use the break from an active almost 3 year old and Jasper needed to brush up on his playground skills before Jax starts walking next spring!

After the playground we walked around and checked out all the vendors. In the middle of the circle of vendors is a lawn with picnic tables where you can eat and hang out. Got to love the Highlands, not many farmers markets have booths from upscale restaurants that sell lunches like beef lettuce wraps! Jasper can get a little annoyed with my photography obsession. I think when I pulled the camera out to take a picture of him eating his exact words were "Seriously, while I'm eating?"

Of course Jax slept through almost the entire trip. If you put him in a stroller and walk out on a hot day he is almost always out in a matter of minutes.

Why play with toys when you can have a big stick?

I thought Jasper and Jack were so cute together.

It was REALLY hot out there today. I think they said it is going to be 102 today which is just crazy. When we got home Jax was soaked with sweat. As soon as we got in the house I stripped him down because his clothes were so wet. This made Jax happy because he LOVES naked baby time.

As the weather starts to cool (hopefully!) we plan on having many more great Saturday mornings at the Farmer's Market.
