I just wanted to share some pictures from this weekend.
I put Jax's high chair together on Friday. Even though we don't plan on starting solid foods until he is 6 months, I knew he was ready to sit in it and it gives him a place to hang out in the kitchen while I get stuff done. Check out this guy in his new seat!
Jasper has a trial coming up so he is having to work some nights and weekends leading up to it. That leaves Jax and me with lots of time on our hands. Saturday was a rainy day so we spent most of the day at home.
Notice the "one sock off" look that Jax has been rocking. Since it has been getting cooler I have started putting socks on the kid and he somehow manages to always get at least one off. I find socks all over the place (as does Ladybird).
Another "one sock off" look. The other foot this time.
Reading, the perfect rainy day activity!
Jax is getting into his books more now. Sure he can't read them, but he is interested in the pages, and really loves the soft fabric books as well. We play with books as much as possible because I really want him to like them and read a lot when he is older. On Sunday the rained cleared. Jasper headed in to the office early and Jax and I went to church. After church we decided to finally go to the zoo! We are so lucky to have such a great zoo so close. It is literally a 3 minute car ride from our house. Before Jax was born I had planned on making several trips over the summer. With the record heat, however, we opted for walking at the mall more than outside and so we had not been to the zoo yet.
Well the weather was perfect on Sunday, so we made the trip. I dressed Jax in his African Safari outfit (seriously, all I needed was the hat to complete the look) and grabbed our favorite toy, Sophie the Giraffe, so Jax could compare her to the live Giraffes we would see.
Ready for our Zoo trip! |
I took him to several exhibits and told him about all the animals.
I'll admit the rhinos were pretty gross and smelly.
Next was the Giraffes! We saw three out and about.
We then made our way to the Elephants.
About half of the way through, Jax fell asleep.
I continued and got to check out the tiger.
The monkeys were the most entertaining and they would swing around right in front of you.
We also saw a polar bear cub.
I headed out while Jax was still asleep. He didn't even wake up when I put him in the car. Before heading home we made a quick stop to see Uncle Kevin, Megan and Dara. Jax had to show them how wonderful his Sophie is and tell them all about his trip.
It was a great weekend and we have a very busy week as Jax and I prepare to head to Florida for Paige's wedding next week! I will leave you with a few other pictures. As I was taking pictures of Jax before heading to the zoo, Ladybird decided we wanted to join in the fun. All this dog wants in life is to play with this baby. She is such a funny dog.
Ohmigosh - Max AND Sarah are always doing the one sock look - I thought it was a Richards' trait! You are so funny, I swear I'm always about to blog about the same things as you. We must have really similar minds!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike Marie! But do your cats help you find them by putting them in their mouths?
