It has been absolutely crazy this past week on the Ward household. Jax officially got his first case of the sniffles and so that has been fun. I wouldn't say he is sick because he acts like he is fine and doesn't have a fever, he is just really congested. In light of this, I discovered another thing that I would never imagine doing prior to having kids ... sucking snot out of a nose. The nasal aspirators that we have just weren't cutting it and it was suggested that I try NoseFrida and literally suck the snot out.
The concept is beyond disgusting, but the packaging swears that the little filter keeps the snot from going into your mouth and it seems to be the only thing that works. So there you go, welcome to motherhood I guess.
Jax has also decided that giving us longer periods of sleep at night is really overrated. We were just starting to get some nights of 6-7 hour stretches with consistency. Suddenly, this week Jax has been getting up ever 2-3 hours again, though he occasionally throws in a 4-5 hour stretch just to tease us. I don't know if it is his congestion, teething or what I have heard many people refer to as the "four month wakeful" period, but something is waking this guy up at night. Lucky he usually goes back to sleep after a diaper change and feeding. I have grown accustomed to my 2 hour stretches of sleep and have been able to function somewhat on them. However this week we are getting ready for Sunday which is Jax's baptism and reception at our house. Stuffy kid, no sleep and party planning leaves me feeling like walking zombie.
While we have been insanely busy, I have still managed to bust out the camera a day or two. Jax is really starting to sit up more and enjoy his toys. It is so much fun. Jax also went through a major growth spurt in the last couple of days. It is actually shocking to be able to see how fast he grew. Suddenly now he can reach the toys on his jumperoo!
His feet also touch the floor now (just barely!) so he is bouncing all over the place in that thing. Check out those chunky thighs!
Poor Ladybird, all she wants in this world is to play with Jax. I watch her peer through the gate to the playroom and she looks so eager to just jump in and play. I try to explain to her that soon Jax will be running all over the house chasing her, but she doesn't seem to want to wait that long.
Happy baby.
Jax actually likes tummy time now as opposed to before when he would get so mad and just scream. I swear he was trying to have a little conversation with the penguin. He just babbled away at it.
Love
Jax really is into stuffed animals these days.
You can tell they get the final stamp of approval when Jax sticks them in his mouth.
Tomorrow will be spent doing the final prep for the baptism and reception. Lots to do and hopefully a few hours of sleep will be thrown in as well. We can't wait to see all of our family on Sunday!
Ok, first of all, this boy is a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e. He just keeps getting cuter and cuter. Secondly, I love love love love the NoseFrida. Maybe I'm a dork but I don't want Anna Claire on meds unless it's deathly. This thing has saved us from many rounds of pain killers and antibiotics. Love it!
