Meeting Santa

Let me just say that Christmas isn't even here yet and I can already say it is so much more fun with a baby.  Something about having a kid makes you experience things in a whole new way.  I sometimes think of Jax as my own pair of rose colored glasses, making everything sweeter.  Today was no exception.  I have been talking to Jax about his upcoming visit to Santa.  I was practically giddy this morning as I got him dressed (looking very dapper if I do say so myself) and out the door.  On the drive to the mall I was even signing Christmas carols to him.  Jasper left his schedule open so he could go with us and when we arrived at the mall we headed off in search for Santa.  Luckily, there were tracks left to help guide us.

We got there and were first in line.  We knew Jax wouldn't like just standing in line for a long time so we planned to get there early, right when Santa arrives.  It was a good thing too because soon after we arrived the line started to grow.  We even heard from one of the mall workers that on the weekend the wait had been 1 1/2 hours!

Waiting for Santa to arrive!
It wasn't long before Santa arrived though and up into his lap Jax went.  We had no idea what response Santa would elicit from Jax and I was prepared for the classic "baby screaming on Santa's lap picture."  This wasn't the case however, Jax just starred at Santa with the cautious curiosity that has  become his trademark.

"Who is this man?"
Even when Santa tried to get Jax to look at their camera for a picture, Jax refused to unlock his gaze.

If Jax told Santa his Christmas list, he must have done so telepathically, because he didn't make a sound.  Lucky for Jax, I am sure Santa already knows exactly what he wants this year.

One thing that wasn't with Santa was his sleigh.  After we left Santa's lap Jasper headed to work and Jax and I went off to do some shopping.  Then we spotted Santa's sleigh in the Von Maur department store!

As you can tell, Jax and I did a little mini photo session right there in the Christmas display at Von Maur.  Luckily, the employees at this store are the nicest I have ever met.  They all stopped by to get a giggle from Jax and even offered to take a picture of Jax and I together!

We even got a little Christmas shopping done while we were there.  Taking Jax to see Santa for the first time just made me even more excited for all the joy and excitement Jasper and I will get from experiencing the holidays through our child's eyes.  We can't wait.
