San Francisco

Things have been busy around the house and I am finally getting around to posting the few pics I have form our San Fransisco portion of our trip. I didn't realize until we got home how few pictures I took (compared to how many I usually take). This is mainly because Jasper was working the entire time we were in SF and most of the days were spent with Jax and just walking the city. Below is what was taken.

On our first night there we arrived around dinner time and wanted something really casual. We asked the concierge at our hotel for a nice but casual place that we could take a baby to. She recommended this restaurant connected to a shopping center a few blocks from our hotel. When we arrived we saw that it was REALLY nice. Apparently our definition of casual and baby friendly differed from hers. We opted not to dine there and went to the food court at the shopping center instead. Well let me tell you this was the nicest food court we had ever seen. There were so many healthy restaurant options, nice china and glasses, great food, etc. It was perfect after traveling and with a tired baby. Bonus points were earned when Jax had a wet diaper and I went in search of a restroom so I could change him. I found this:

Not only did this place encourage dads to be part of the baby changing experience (there are still many places in KY that don't have changing stations in mens bathrooms), the lounge had five nice changing stations, a microwave and bottle warmer, a play area with tv on a kid friendly station, and these ...

Nursing stations! I was in disbelief. What a family friendly area and I wonder if this is just the place I found or more of the mentality in this city. Either way, this mom was excited.

Don't worry, we didn't spend our entire visit in the food court, the next day while Jasper was at his hearing, Jax and I walked through the city. We first went to Chinatown.

This was followed by a walk through Union Square. We also walked lots of hills which this picture doesn't do justice. I was glad I brought my nice stroller because walking these hills with a baby in a stroller is hard work and probably contributed to my weight loss on this trip.

We also saw lots of cable cars. The lines to board the cable cars would go for several blocks.

After a full afternoon out and about, Jax and I rested in the hotel until Jasper was done for the day.

Jax was very excited to greet his dad when he got back to the hotel room.

The next day Jasper had to head out early for his meetings and Jax and I slept in a little. We then went to meet Jessica, a friend of mine from high school who now lives in San Francisco. Our meeting is a testament to how cool social networking is. I had posted on facebook that we were having fun in SF and Jessica, who I had not seen in over 10 years probably, saw my post and responded that she lived there now. We got together for lunch and she showed me around. It was so much fun catching up.

We ate lunch outside at the Ferry Marketplace.

Then we walked by the water until Jax fell asleep.

That night we went out on the town with Jasper. I was shocked and not prepared for how cool it was in San Francisco. While it was 100 degrees in almost every other part of the country, it was in the low 70s where we were and down to the high 50s at night! It was so cool I had to buy a sweater for Jax to wear as I didn't have any warmer clothes. I can guarantee this is the one and only time he will have been able to wear it because it will be a long time before we see those cool of temperatures here at home!

After a busy few days in Vegas, San Francisco was a great relaxing way to end our trip.
