Civics 101

So yesterday was Election Day and a great reason for our first family outing, to go vote!  It was also Mr. Miles' due date.  :)  I debated voting early this year in case I was stuck in the hospital on election day, but when we decided to induce early I knew I would be out in time and wanted to go vote as a family.  So for the first time we loaded TWO boys into the back of our car!

Jax seemed concerned that he suddenly had company in the back seat.

Of course Jax was wearing his "Lil' Dem" onesie.  One of our parents' joint shower gifts was a "Lil' Dem" onesie in every size from 6-24 months. :)  He has worn one for both of the last general elections.

I think I will be saving this picture in case he ever decides to run for office.

First, I took Miles to vote with me.  He seemed underwhelmed and slept right through it.

We then had a little wait before Jasper could vote.  No we didn't have crazy long lines like some parts of the country.  We did have an issue with Jasper's registration though.  Since we moved we also changed precincts and Jasper changed his registration info on the last day, so it hadn't made it to our new precinct.  They had to call downtown to verify he was allowed to vote here.  Jax loved having a chair next to the registration table though and didn't want to get up when it was time.  Jasper made some joke about how Jax could stay to do voter challenges, but that joke didn't seem to go over well with the poll workers.

Jasper did finally get to vote though and took Jax over with him.  He seemed fine at first ...

Until he saw who his options were.  He didn't seem impressed.

One funny story from voting:  as I was submitting my ballot, the poll worker asked how old Miles was.  I told her he was 10 days and she was shocked I was out with him.  Her exact words were "I don't know about you modern moms."  I found that comment pretty comical.

They don't give out "I Voted" stickers at our precinct (claiming state budget cuts) but we did leave with a cute picture of our boys on election day!
