Around The House

Baby it's cold outside!  So we are staying in where it is nice and toasty.  Here was just part of our day.

Checking out the tree.  I have been shocked at how well Jax has done with the trees.  He has really left all the ornaments alone.  I have found some random toys in the tree from time to time.  I think Jax just thought it needed a little extra "something."

We have also been grocery shopping a lot.  Don't you shop in your underwear with your basketball?

This is the look I get when he is about to get into something and is trying to look innocent, "who me?"

Told ya.

We have also been doing lots of coloring.

While usually this coloring is done in a note pad, today I found that Jax has expanded his canvas.
This is on the tv unit upstairs.

Don't forget the blocks!

But look at this face, who can be mad at this?

Play time on the bed!

We can't leave Miles out.  He slept a lot today (like every day),
but we did manage to get some tummy time in!

With a cutie like this, who needs to leave the house?

Game Day

It is the day of the big game, Kentucky v. Louisville.
This time of year is always hard on our household ... we are a house divided.

What does a house divided give you?  A Baby Divided!

I caught Jasper trying to win Miles over to his side this morning.
I think Miles was trying to get my attention to help him get away.  :)

Even Jax seemed very confused as to where to give his allegiance.

Either way the kids will luckily be home during the game while we go.  Should be a fun game!

Let It Snow

This is what we woke up to this morning.

It is the most perfect snow, just enough to make everything beautiful.

I was practically giddy with the thought of taking Jax out in the snow to play.
He seemed pretty interested as well.

As soon as Miles went down for a nap we all bundled up and headed outside.

Enjoying Jax's first real snow!

Jax really didn't know what to make of the snow at first.

He walked really slow and actually wanted to hold my hand, a rare thing for this toddler.

Then we showed Jax that this snow was perfect for making snowballs!

From that moment on he was hooked.

Even the dogs joined in on the fun.

Loving our snow day!

If you have a snowball you of course need to play DUNK!

I am hoping that we have even more fun snow days this winter, I feel they are LONG overdue.

Trip to the Doctor Times Two!

So today was my first time taking both boys to the doctor.  Miles had his 2 month well visit and Jax had his 20 month well visit (which was supposed to be an 18 month well visit, but because I screwed up his 15 month well visit we were a little behind.)  I really wasn't sure how this was going to go down since both boys would be getting shots and Jax isn't a big fan of the doctor's office right now anyway.  I thought up a brillant plan though that was sure to work.

My dad was bringing Jax back up from staying at their house last night.  I had Dad just bring Jax straight to the doctor's office.  I figured that my dad could stay with Jax in the waiting room (which he likes) while I deal with Miles.  I would then hand Miles off to my dad (with a bottle that would solve being upset over shots) so I could deal with Jax.  It was guaranteed to work.  What I didn't plan for was the flu.  Apparently 10 kids had been to the doctor's office today with the flu and so when we got there the nurse wanted to bring us back to a room right away so my kid wouldn't be exposed to the germs, all of us.  While I greatly appreciated this precaution, it really messed up my plans!  From the moment we got back to the room Jax seemed to be planning his exit.

First Jax seemed to be explaining to Miles what was about to go down.

"Don't worry little brother, I am going to get you out of here!"

Trying to escape.

As Jax was trying to get out, we picked Miles up to get him ready for the doctor.
Jax was too late to save him.

Jax decided it was every man for himself and made a break for it.  I am really glad that Papa Bear was there to stop him!  Jax was not easily thwarted though.  Since he couldn't get out on his own he decided to just scream until someone let him out.  It was big fun.  In his defense, it worked.  We ended up having Papa Bear walk Jax around outside while the doctor saw Miles.  It was cold outside but he didn't seem to care.

Miles wasn't nearly as worried about this doctor visit.

It was a pretty exhausting trip and while my dad probably could have done without being there to see Jax's big meltdown, I am really glad he was there.  I don't see many solo trips to the doctor with both kids in my near future.

So here are the kids stats:

Jax:  Height          33 inches   50%
        Weight:        27 lbs        55%
        Head Cir.     50.5cm     96%

What can I say, I already knew the kid had a big head.  One funny thing about Jax's check up was that the nurse had Jax down on a piece of paper to draw a line at his head and feet to check height.  Jax was screaming and moving all around though.  When she got the measurements she said he was in the 10% for height.  I knew that just couldn't be right so we finally got him to stand next to the ruler and that added 3 inches.  For a second I was worried I was going to have this kid who was really short with a giant head!

Miles:  Height       24 inches  75%
           Weight      13.9 lbs    80%
           Head Cir.  40cm        50%

I think Miles will eventually even out in the 50% like his brother did but only time will tell.  He does have chunky thighs that his brother never had!

Two Months Olds

Dear Miles,
You are such a sweet baby.  This is the month you showed us how easy life with a newborn could be.  You are our little cuddle bug who likes to be swaddled and held tight.  You also still love to sleep and have started to sleep through the night, a feat we didn't think was possible at this age!  We have started to see that sweet smile of yours that melts our hearts.  When you are awake you seem to just soak up your surroundings.  Luckily the craziness of our house doesn't seem to bother you at all.  We can't wait to see more and more of your personality shine through in the coming months.  You are also getting so big!  It is amazing the amount of clothes already packed away that you have made your way through.  There is nothing cuter than a little chunky baby though and that is what you are.

This month we got to see you experience your first Christmas.  Sure you won't remember it, but we will.  We will remember seeing you be held by Santa as he taked about what a good baby you are.  We will remember how you sat silently during the entire Christmas Eve church service until the moment of silence when you let out the most adorable coos the entire time.  We will remember how full our hearts felt to see stockings for two little boys now placed on the fireplace.  We love you so much.

Love, Mom and Dad

Of course another month means another photo shoot.

Gotta love air quotes. "Get it guys, it is a 'MILES' marker!"

Packing Up and Heading Out

Jax headed off to YaYa and Papa Bear's house for the evening. He even got to use his new backpack that Santa brought. Gotta love how he just casually says "bye bye mom" and heads off. He is getting too big too fast. I can't imagine how I will feel when he is taking that backpack to school next year.

Do they look like they belong together or what?

I always miss Jax so much when he is gone, especially overnight.  It was nice to have some time to just focus on Mr. Miles though.  I really struggle with mommy guilt sometimes because when Jax was a baby I would just spend hours holding him and memorizing every aspect of his little face, hand and feet.  With Miles, I spend that time just trying to make sure Jax doesn't sit on him.  Luckily I have so far been a success on that front.  Having some one of one time with the little man has been great. We looking at each other and made each other smile, sang some songs, and then had a failed attempt at tummy time while I folded laundry. He was passed out cold within a minute.

Enjoy your night with Yaya and Papa Bear Jax, we miss you and can't wait to see you tomorrow!

One little Monkey Jumping on a Bed

hopefully this one won't fall off and bump his head.

Jax has discovered the fine art of jumping on a bed and is pretty good at it.  I don't mind now because he is so good at getting off the bed feet first (as opposed to flying off head first which was his first approach).  I will admit I enjoy or wrestling matches that take place on the bed while Miles is napping.  They are good times.
