Halloween Fun

Today was the annual Halloween Party at Jasper's parents' house.  I was so glad it was a little early this year so we could make sure we could make it.  Since I know there is a chance I could be delivering right around Halloween I also loved that I would have a guaranteed time to see my little man in his costume.  So what was he this year?  Well over vacation we were talking about how much he LOVES balls and especially basketballs.  I thought it would be great to dress him as a basketball player for Halloween.  Then the only question was:  what team?  Since we are a house divided I knew that we wouldn't want Jax to be a Kentucky or Louisville player so I thought "why not Team USA?"  It is an Olympic year after all.  I was very proud of myself for "making" his costume.  For clarification purposes "making" means I ironed on letters to a t-shirt to make his jersey.  :)

We were going for the "Lebron look" since Jasper used to call Jax "Lebron" while we were pregnant.  I therefore needed the head sweatband to complete the look.  I was pretty pumped when it arrived in the mail (along with wristbands and tube socks!) but I don't think Jax liked the headband that much.  It gave him a permanent scowl.

So the headband got left behind and Jax was much happier.  Here is our all star with his number one fan!

Of course I had to put his name on the back and since he is the "fifth" I thought the number 5 was perfect for him.

We got to the party and were greeted by Jasper's mom who always dresses at the Fairy Godmother. She is hilarious.

I don't know if it is just the nesting instinct in me right now or what, but I decided I needed to make special cookies for the party today.  I got the idea for these online and just tried to wing it. I was pretty proud of my ghost cookies!

While the bigger kids played the games, all Jax wanted to do was DUNK!

His Papa Bear even gave him an assist with the bigger goal.

Meme wasn't the only grandparent in costume at the party.  My mom came at the Cat in the Hat.  My mom has to be the only person that can say "this old thing, I found it hanging in my closet."  She had this costume from her days as an Elementary School Principal.  Doesn't this scream professional but fun?

Some of Jax's older cousins taught him the fine art of "hang time."

While most of the kids at the party were Jax's cousins, he did have some friends come to play as well.  Especially Ms. Ava who was a princess.  I asked which Disney princess this costume was (because I am admittedly not current on my knowledge of Disney princesses) and was told by Paige that Ava didn't care about the character, she just wanted blue. :)

Also in attendance for the first time was Ava's new baby brother Noah!  Maybe she can give Jax some tips on how to have a little brother. My dad sure looks ready for another little baby to be around.

Paige with her two little dolls.

I would LOVE to know what Jax thought of his grandmothers being all dressed up.
His face was priceless.

The gang all headed to the Zoo for trick or treating afterward on a hayride that the Fairy Godmother made appear.  While it looked like a blast, we had to pass since it was taking off right around Jax's bedtime.

Jax did give them the proper send off though.

We headed home and had Jax asleep within a matter of minutes.  So much for for such a little boy. :)
