Just Random

Just some random thoughts form the past week or so:

1)  Fall Leaves:  I love fall and love the leaves, but I hate having to clean them up.  Maybe when Jax is old enough to jump in a big pile of leaves I will like them again, but right now they are just a pain.  Because Jasper and I both really hate yard work we only rake our leaves once when they are all down and this year we will probably have someone come do it for us.  Lazy, perhaps, but it works for us.  We have a large pile of leaves on the front porch right now and when I went outside the other day I found this flyer someone had put right in the middle of the pile. Subtle?

2) Bad Habits:  I am sure there will be many bad habits I develop as a mom and I will later hate.  This might be my first.  See this toy?  Well the other day Jax and I were at Babies R Us and he started to get a little fussy in his car seat.  I just grabbed this little guy and gave it to Jax to keep him happy.  So apparently I am going to teach my son that if he fusses in a store he gets a toy ... great.

3)  Pinterest:  I am OBSESSED with this site.  It is a good thing this website was not around when I was wedding planning or I might not have passed my classes in my second year of law school because I would have been on there all day long.  You can find great ideas for just about anything.  For example:  I follow a strict low carb/no sugar diet.  Can be boring at times and I have found so many great recipes on here to try.  I just made these delicious peanut butter cheesecake balls the other day.  They might make an appearance at my parent's Thanksgiving dinner.

I also got my hair cut a few weeks ago.  It has looked terrible since having Jax and I needed a change.  I found this picture on pinterest, and decided I wanted to look like her.

While I may not look like this model, I am happy with my new bangs. :)

4)  Baby Products:  I know I am a little obsessive, but this seems important to me.  When I started researching all the baby products I wanted to use for Jax before he was born I decided that all skin and cleaning products should be as "green" or non-toxic.  Article's like the one below just reaffirm this position for me.

From an AP article recently
"Two chemicals considered harmful to babies remain in Johnson & Johnson's baby shampoo sold in the U.S. and some other countries, even though the company already makes versions without them, according to an international coalition of health and environmental groups.
Now the coalition is urging consumers to boycott Johnson & Johnson baby products until the company agrees to remove the chemicals from its baby products sold around the world, including in China and the U.K.
The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics has unsuccessfully been urging the world's largest health care company for 2 1/2 years to remove the trace amounts of potentially cancer-causing chemicals dioxane and a substance called quaternium-15 that releases formaldehyde from Johnson's Baby Shampoo, one of its signature products."

Makes me glad we use California Baby Products in our household.  I love that stuff.

5)  Sleep:  I know I have already posted several times about Jax's sleeping, or lack there of, and then the success of sleep training.  I just have to say again that I feel like a new person now that Jax is sleeping better.  The kid is averaging 12 hours a night without us getting up once.  He is also getting 3 naps in a day to total 3 hours of sleep.  I am amazed at how much sleep he really needs and how little he was getting before.  Life is good!
