The shower was a "shower" theme so we had clouds and raindrops decorating the bar area for the cupcakes.
Here are several of the college girls though a few more got there after this picture was taken.
I love baby showers because the presents are all so cute. I will say it is much more fun to watch baby presents be opened than it is to watch ... say a blender.
While everyone was eating we had all the guests fill out forms with wishes for the baby. When Katie opened the presents she read one of the wishes from the gift giver's card that she liked best. Only with our group of friends would we have a combination of sweet sentimental wishes and advice on what alcohol to drink!
Luckily our friend Kaelin offered to take some pictures with my camera since Jax was keeping me busy!
We are so excited for Katie's little guy Oliver to get here. It was a great day and an opportunity to not only celebrate Katie's little man that is about to arrive, but also to hang out and catch up with old friends. We don't do it often enough.
While the baby shower is usually more than enough activity in the day for us, we were not done. From Midway we immediately headed to E-town to my brother's farm for a Barndance! Tyler has been doing lots of work on the family farm that he purchased and it was time for all the family to head over and check it out.
He had a potluck and when the sun went down the Karaoke started. Good times.
We got a chance to finally introduce Jax to some relatives in E-town that hadn't been able to meet him yet, unless you count reading about him on here that is.
Here are the Owsley's that were at the party.
Other family friends and friends of Tyler's from college were also there.
Jax got a chance to hang out also hang out with some family that we don't get to see nearly often enough. Here he is with my Aunt Linda and Uncle Pat.
By the time the karaoke started it was pretty dark. Instead of a karaoke machine, a friend of Tyler's would play the songs while you sang and the words were printed in a binder for you. To add to the "rustic" feel, you had to have someone come hold a lantern so you could read the words. :)
As a testament to how much I do love my brother, I obliged him when he
We left way past Jax's bedtime to head back to Louisville and the party was still going strong. I love that Tyler had such a great family gathering and I hope he has one again next year. Maybe by then I can have taught Jax a song he can sing as well. :)
