New Year, New Me

I'll admit it, I make lots of New Years resolutions.  Some I stick with (keeping a blog) some I don't (become a runner).   You win some and you lose some, but it doesn't hurt to try right?

This year I have decided to put a few of my resolutions out there.  I find that I do better when there is some accountability associated with my goal.  For example I loved having a gym buddy (my friend Kat) back in high school, we went together all the time.  When I went on a diet before getting pregnant I told EVERYONE I was on one.  I knew I wouldn't cheat if everyone knew I was suppose to be dieting.  Accountability works for me.

So here is my list of goals to becoming a better ME

1)  The obvious one, lose weight.  The baby weight to be exact.  I got down to my goal weight after losing 50lbs in 2010 and was there a whole 2 months before getting pregnant.  I love my baby weight because it brought me 9 lbs 11.3 oz of healthy baby boy, but it is time for it to move on.

2)  Bring out my inner Domestic Goddess.  Ok who am I kidding, there is no domestic goddess.  However I would like to be better at some "domestic" tasks now that I stay home.  A big one for our family is meal planning.  We have never been good at it and dinner has many times been either late night trips to the grocery store or making due with the sparse items in our pantry.  Now that Jax is closer to table foods, I have been told he will "eat what you eat."  Well unless we want him having bags of popcorn for dinner occasionally (don't judge) then we need to get better at this and I have taken this task on.

3)  Date night.  We don't do them often and we need to.  As much as we adore Jax, we need to have conversations that revolve around something other than the frequency of feedings and dirty diapers of our little man.  This week we took a small step in this direction by heading out (after Jax went to sleep) to the movies.  I hadn't been to a movie in well over a year.  Maybe next time we will go wild and throw a dinner in before the movie as well.  :)

These are just a few, but it is nice to put them in writing so they don't get forgotten.

  2. Jax, Ask your mom & dad if we could meet at a coffee shop (I love to go to them!). Tye, my daughter, sent me your mom's blog. Since Tye lives in L.A., she can't join us. My son, Lacey, lives in Louisville so he can join us. What is your favorite coffee spot? I have a
3-day week-end coming up. What is your schedule? I look forward to hearing from you. XO, Great Aunt Teka (Your grandfather Mike's big sister.)
