A Good Day

Jasper and I always text throughout the day.  It is our way of keeping in touch about how our days are going, what time he will be coming home, what we have going on, etc.  At some point in the day he always texts "How are the boys?"  I would be lying if I said that I didn't sometimes say "they are a mess, when the heck are you coming home."  However, more often than not we are having a good day.  Today was one of those days.

The kids were just hilarious today.  Miles went from crawling a couple of feet after much effort to just taking off across the room today.  He has also been practicing his new hobby of pulling up all day.  HE practiced on me, on the couch, on the basket of toys, on everything.  The kid literally didn't sit still all day.  At one point as I was changing a very messy diaper of Jax's Miles was crawling towards us and fell over, hitting his head on the wood floor.  He started crying and I tried to get him sitting up while still dealing with the dirty diaper.  When I finished, I asked Jax to hug his brother while I washed my hands so I could pick him up.  Jax went over to hug Miles and Miles grabbed the snack out of Jax's hand and shoved it in his mouth.  Instantly the crying stopped and all was good with the world.  This kid loves his food, that is for sure.  The rest of the day he was simply all smiles.  He is one of the happiest kids I know and I love it.

Jax was also on fire with his language today.  He is my little comedian.  When Miles was fussing in his crib and fighting his afternoon nap (leading me to believe he is about to drop it entirely), Jax picked up the baby monitor and looked at it and said just flatly said "take a nap baby."  He also constantly tries to sit on his little brother saying "I ride the baby!"  We are working on that.  More than anything today though he wanted to hold Miles.  "Jax hold the baby, Jax hold the baby. "  Every time I would sit Miles in his lap he would fall over and laugh saying "Jax and Miles fall down."

Of course Jax had his moments today, just like every other day in the life of a toddler.  Today a tantrum resulted because he wanted his high chair in the middle of the kitchen as opposed to by the table.  I decided to pick my battles and this wasn't one of them.

However most of the day was filled with giggles, playing, reading and building.
I love watching these boys start to play together.

Today was a good day.

Crafts for Dad

I couldn't share these pictures on here before because we hadn't given Jasper his Father's Day gift yet.  Taking a toddler and a baby to a pottery painting store is definitely an "experience."  I have always been pretty particular about crafts but have tried my best to embrace "messy perfection" since having the boys.  I let Jax just have at it with the mug.

The boys also put their hand prints on each side.  Surprisingly, Miles was much easier to work with than Jax on this.  Jax just wanted to squish the paint on his hand all around.

This is the look I got when I took the paint brush away from Jax.

Not sure Miles knew what to think of the whole experience.

Dad's Day

Today was all about Dad at our house.  Just to make sure Dad felt extra special, Jax woke up at the awesome time of 5:30 ready to go.  Good thing the present we got Dad was a new coffee mug.

It has both boys' hand prints on it and Jax added the extra painting.  I will say that taking a 2 year old and 7 month old to a pottery painting store is an experience.

The other present we got was shirts for all the boys.  I had wanted to get shirts for Jasper and Jax last year since they share the same name.  Since Jasper is the "IV" and Jax is the "V" I thought it would be cute to have 4 and 5 on the back.  I never found somewhere to purchase them last year, but did find someone on etsy that made really cute shirts like this.  I didn't want to leave Miles out so I figured since he is the first Miles Patrick Ward he could have the number 1. I think they all looked pretty cute in their shirts.

Jax also got to play a little baseball for the first time.  We bought a t-ball set and Jasper "taught" his how to swing the bat.  It might take a few more lessons.

Miles watched from the sidelines.  All he needed were some peanuts and Cracker Jack.

He may not have gotten any of those, but he did get to have his first taste of frozen yogurt!
We all went out together and Miles was a fan.  This isn't that surprising because he is a fan of almost everything he put in his mouth.

Jax seems like such a big kid these days.  He doesn't need out help at all anymore when eating and insisted on wearing his "red hat" today.

Happy Father's Day to the best Dad around.  We love you!

Room for Two

Jax loves wagon rides and until now has had to ride solo.  Miles has gotten big enough to join him now though and both boys seems to love every minute of it.  We walked all over our neighborhood and they were both happy as could be.  Only problem was that they kept trying to get closer to each other.  Miles kept trying to reach out and hug Jax and Jax kept trying to rub Miles' head.  Best buds these two will be.

So Close to Freedom

Miles is ready to crawl, I mean REALLY ready.
Every time I put him down he goes into this position:

Then he starts rocking.

He can't crawl yet but he is so close!
Jax is also giving him pointers so I am sure he will be there in no time!

Brotherly Love

Just a few pics that I have snapped of these two of the past couple of weeks.  They are starting to play more and more together and I feel like Miles is starting to catch up in size!  Won't be long before they are chasing each other all over the house and that makes me smile.

Learning to share.  Jax shared one of his toy cookies.

Getting Revenge.  Jax is learning that Miles can grab and climb on him now as well.

Looking up.  Jax watching his cartoon and Miles watching his big brother.
