The Bosses
Before kids I thought staying home meant that you worked for no one, totally independent. Ha! Little did I know that your bosses are little creatures a fraction of your size that made constant demands of your time with no regard for your personal needs or wishes. Instead of written requirements or tasks they often communicate with grunting, crying or whining. The have little patience for how long tasks take to complete and change their minds constantly. In no other line of work would I put up with a boss like this, but with these two ... I love it. It also helps that they are pretty cute.

Trumpet Boy
We have these plastic cones that we play with a lot and one day I picked it up and held it like a trumpet and made and little trumpet sound singing "do do da do!" Jax thought it was hilarious and does it almost daily now, sound effects and all. This kid cracks me up.

Little Man
Jax is looking like SUCH a little man rather than a toddler these days. This is what he looked like after we got home from the Easter Egg hunt today when he went down to the basement with Jasper to watch a tournament game. I felt like might as well be sitting there with a beer eating chicken wings (though I promise it is just milk in his sippy!)
It doesn't help that he can be so independent ... when he wants to be.
Gotta love when he insists on building the tower himself and making it taller than him only to get upset when it falls over. Toddler problems.
Going on an Egg Hunt
My church had an Easter Festival today and while Jax is a little young for many of the activities, I thought he would enjoy the egg hunt. I mean, eggs are like odd shaped balls! So we headed over. It was really raining today which is a shame because the event is usually held outside and had to be in the fellowship hall because of the weather. The kids didn't seem to mind though. During the activities portion Jax did do a couple of tables. He colored and of course was happy to help himself to the "decorate your own cookie" table.
Then came time for the Easter Egg hunt. For the two year old crowd that just meant letting them loose in a room with tons of eggs all over the floor. I'll be honest, Jax was so not into it. He didn't really get what to do and was more interested in all the kids around him. Plus his dad ate all the candy inside the eggs so it wasn't that exciting for him!
Mainly though he just wanted to play on the basketball goal. Figures that we would bring him here and he would want to play on the one toy we have at our house.

Hopefully Jax gets the hang of these Easter Egg Hunts before Easter gets here!

Tummy Time
Miles actually enjoys tummy time now. I don't blame him for hating it when he was a newborn, what fun is it to be on your stomach when you can't lift your head up? Now, however, it is a different story. He can see more when he is on his belly and he really likes to check out what all is going on around him.
He also loves the tummy roll and his mirror.
Who wouldn't want to look at themselves all day if they looked like this!

Second Child
I am amazed at the differences between my kids sometimes. Jax was accustomed to total quiet to go to sleep. The slightest noise from the floor as you passed his room could wake him up. Miles, on the other hand, has adapted well to the constant noise that fills the house of a toddler. Today I put him down on the play mat to chase Jax around for a minute. We were screaming and laughing and when I came back into the kitchen to check on Miles I found this. Even when Jax came back in and was making all kids of noise right next to him this boy sis not stir. So this is how Miles took his afternoon nap today. Amazing.

Our Little Michelangelo
Jax loves to color ... on everything. We are working on staying on paper and luckily we so far haven't had much that couldn't be wiped clean. Today he decorated the walls of our bathroom.
I caught him red handed as he was moving on to the shower door.
Instead of surrendering, however, he continued with his work.
Such an innocent face, but he isn't fooling me. I know he is planning his next masterpiece.
For now we just keep emphasizing that we color on paper and hope that he gets it soon.
Meanwhile, while Jax was adding some color to our lives, Miles was the innocent bystander enjoying the free entertainment. Surely this face would never color on my walls.

Mickey and Meme's House
Whenever we go to visit Jasper's parents Jax gets all excited. As soon as we pull into the driveway he starts yelling "Mickey and Meme house!" We enjoyed the warmer weather again today and I am not sure who enjoyed their walk around the block more, Jax or his Mickey.

Easy as ABC
Someone is working on their ABCs. So far Jax identifies the letters M, O and Y. No clue why those have stuck and why he has no interest in all the other wonderful letters of the alphabet, but there you go.

Getting Warmer
It might not be warm yet, but that doesn't mean it isn't warm ENOUGH for us to be outside playing! Today was sunny and mild so we headed out (with hats on our heads) to play a little and get some fresh air. Spring I have missed you.
Jax ran around while Miles was bundled up and watched from his chair. Both were very entertained.
I think both kids had a great time!

Yellow Ball
I went to the grocery tonight and they had a large display of those inflatable balls by the check out. We are doing a ball theme for Jax's second birthday because the kid is OBSESSED with balls. So I bought a whole cart load of them to have at the party. I got more than a couple of odd looks from people in the check out line. When I got home I decided to give Jax one of the smaller yellow balls. He already has a ton of these balls, but not a yellow and I like to use them to talk about colors with him. I brought the yellow ball in and gave it to him. You would have thought the kid just received a pony he was so excited. Forget the hundred other balls in our play room, Jax had a yellow ball. He carried it around the rest of the night saying over and over again "yellow ball, yellow ball." Best $2.99 I have ever spent. With kids, it really is the little things.
Pete The Cat
We snapped some pictures today as I read to the boys one of our favorite books: Pete the Cat and His Brand New White Shoes. Jax loves the little song that is part of the story and how animated we get when we say "Oh No" over and over during the book. Miles seems pretty interested in it today as well.
Of course Jax doesn't always let me finish the book, sometimes he wants the abbreviated version and lets me know by starting to climb around. This picture really captures what day to day life is like right now: Miles sitting calmly on my lap while Jax climbs all over me. :)

Exceeding the Weight Limit
I feel like a couple of the baby items we use on a daily basis are about to be retired for this child,
one being the infant swing.
A few more weeks and I doubt the swing will keep moving and his feet will be hanging off! Looks like we need another form of entertainment for when mom needs a shower and quick!
