The Duo

The closest I have gotten to a smile all day.  I am losing my touch.

4 Months Old

Dear Miles,
Another month has passed and more wonderful memories have been created with you.  This month brought your baptism, a special time as we celebrated you and the special gift that you are to us.  You are giving us more and more glimpse into your personality.  The best word to describe you so far is just sweet.  The smile that you give us is one of pure sweetness, and you are very generous with it.

You seem to be bursting at the seams these days.  You are looking pretty funny in your swaddle for bedtime these days as you are clearly way too large for it.  We know the days of the swaddle are numbered, but are afraid that the good sleep patterns will end, and we enjoy them.  You are still a little snuggler and though you certainly don't look like a small infant anymore, the way you still fall asleep in our arms and cuddle up against our faces when resting on our shoulder shows us you still want to be our little baby.  This is perfect because we don't want you to grow up this fast!  So slow down little fella, we are having way too much fun with you.

Love, Mom and Dad

A New View

Someone likes to hang out in his highchair now.

He might not be eating foods yet, but for now this will do.

Say Cheese Times Two

I found taking pictures of one kid fun, but two is hysterical.
You never know what expressions you will get and these are pretty cute.

Cardinal Pride

The boys wanted to make their dad smile today so they were decked out in Cardinal red today.

I was hoping that Miles might end up being the UK fan of the two, but he seems pretty happy in his outfit.

Just Because

Just sharing cute pics I took of the boys as we played in Miles' nursery today.

Jax really likes to "talk" on the phone these days.  He holds it up to his ear and says "hewwo?"
It is beyond cute.  When you ask him who he is talking to the answer always changes.
I have heard, Dada, Meme, Gey, and even Jax."

Miles is getting better and better at grabbing toys.  He loves the play mat.

Soon those hands will be grabbing all sorts of fun things, then the real fun begins!

Little Cupids

Happy Valentine's Day!

I am one lucky lady to have three special men in my life.  We didn't do much for the holiday, but the boys did get a little something from us: they each got a book and a balloon.  Jax might also have gotten to eat a special heart cookie.  Considering he hardly ever gets cookies, it was kind of a big deal!

This holiday is to show appreciation for those that we love.
These two little guys fill my heart with more love than I ever could have imagined being possible.
Life is good.

Weekend Visit

I packed up the kids and took them to visit Yaya and Papa Bear this weekend.  Jasper had to be out of town for work so we decided for a little trip as well.  You can tell Jasper wasn't around when you see Jax wearing any UK gear, courtesy of Papa Bear.

Papa Bear is also lots of fun to cuddle with while watching a morning cartoon.
Does this pose look at all familiar?

This was Jax last Memorial Day.

While Jax went with Papa Bear to the car mechanic shop, Miles hung out with us around the house.

Then we all headed out for some fun.  We started at the book store where the ever popular train table is.  Jax had fun, but Miles didn't seem impressed.

Then it turned out to be story time!  While I have yet to take Jax to a story time because I don't feel he has the attention span necessary to sit through it, I figured since we were already there and my mom was there to help we could give it a shot.  Things started out great and Jax even made a friend.

Then things got ... interesting.  Jax was not interested in sitting and quietly listening to a story, he wanted to run around the stage!  Can't say I really blame the kid as the lady running the story time was not the most exciting.  Either way, when he found out he could not run around the stage as he hoped he was less than thrilled, leading to the very first time I have carried my kid out of a store literally kicking and screaming.  While it was my first, I am positive it will not be my last.

We recovered at home though and luckily my parents have a playroom with more toys than any toddler could ever need.   Life was good again.

Sunday morning came and it was time to head to church!
The kids were looking pretty cute if I do say so myself.

We are still working on getting Jax to like church nursery.  He isn't big into being dropped off anywhere and no amount of toys and great adults to play with him will change that for now.  After church however, he is quickly all smiles again, especially if it is nice enough to play outside.

Especially when YaYa joins in!

Back at the house I will say that I am pretty sure Jax feels at home.  He ran into my parents room, jumped in Papa Bear's recliner and pulled out the remote.

This kid cracks me up sometimes.

Little Tiger

Jasper and I had a conversation one day when Jax was a baby.  We were talking about schools for him and how Jasper will only entertain the idea of Jax going to St. X.  I remember saying "well of course you will support him if he wants to go to another high school like Trinity, right" to which Jasper responded "but he won't."  Now I am starting to see what Jasper was talking about.  Jax has a million 12 male cousins (I think, I sometimes lose count) on one side of his family and almost all of them will go to St. X for high school.  Jax is much younger than many of them and already REALLY loves them and wants to be like them.  I know as years go on he will look up to them more and more and in reality he probably will automatically want to go there.  Especially if he keeps getting St. X gear passed down to him over the years.  :)

Miles' Baptism

Yesterday was a very special day for our family, it was the day our sweet Miles was baptized.  The snow outside didn't stop us from celebrating with lots of friends and family.
Miles, of course, was an absolute angel during the service.

Apparently Jax was very concerned what they were doing to his little brother and wanted to come up with us.  This is also the closest we got to a family shot as our toddler wasn't really feeling the camera this day.  Maybe he knew this day was about his little brother.

All smiles after the service was finished.

Celebrating with Miles' Godparents.

Of course no event would be complete without pictures with all the grandparents and great grandparents.  I think Miles was a little confused by all the attention.

After the service we all headed back to our house where the party was waiting for us.  I love parties and really follow the "go big or go home" mentality when it comes to them.  My florist was joking and asking if we were throwing a wedding at out house.  For a baptism I like to keep it sweet and simple so the house was covered in all white and cream flowers.

One thing there was certainly more of than flowers was food!  I wanted brunch food for the party and because this was to celebrate such a little man we made everything mini.

We had mini french toast, mini pancake stacks, mini cinnamon rolls, fruit in individual cups, mini quiches and omelets and bacon on a stick, it was all delicious.

The food didn't stop with breakfast though because no party is complete without lots of dessert!  Besides the traditional cake and cupcakes we also had white chocolate mouse, chocolate covered pretzels and cookie dough pops.

Someone found the cookie dough pops right away and we could barely keep him away from the table for the rest of the party.

To help wash down all the food was a mimosa bar where you could pick your juice and garnishments to make your perfect mimosa.  It went over pretty well with this crowd.

I would love to take credit for the yummy food, but that wouldn't be accurate.  It is no secret I am not the best cook.  While I made the food for Jax's baptism, I found it exhausting to try and get all the food ready before heading to church and then hurry back to get it all set out for everyone.  So when Amy, a good friend who is our doula and the only non family member to ever watch the boys, offered to prepare the menu I had planned for us, I was thrilled.  She is an excellent cook.  She is also pretty taken with Mr. Miles.

Miles made the rounds during the party and everyone seemed to enjoy their time with him.  He seemed to keep wondering what all the fuss was about.

We received some very special gifts and mementos for Miles, including a bib with his name and date of baptism and his first Bible.

My brother, Miles' Godfather, also gave him a very special Bible.  It belonged to my grandfather and Tyler had highlighted passages that he felt were important and that were messages he hoped to impress upon Miles as he grows up.

While miles was wearing white for obvious reasons, at the end of the party there were others wearing white as well.  UL had a home game that was a "white out" and Kevin and Lorne thought Miles was showing his Cardinal pride along with them.  Little do they know that I am secretly hoping this one turns out to be a UK fan.

All in all it was a wonderful day to celebrate Miles with are family.

He is so loved.
