Guess who got a new camera!

So we have been meaning to buy a new "Mom" camera for months now but had just been putting it off. Well yesterday we went out and finally purchased a camera, the Cannon Rebel T1i.

We also got a prime lens to go with it which I just love. I played with the camera yesterday afternoon and you will probably be seeing a lot more pictures on here as I practice. Hopefully I will be a semi pro with this camera before baby bird arrives!

So here are some shots I took yesterday. First my ever growing bump at just over 36 weeks. Seriously will I get much bigger in the next couple of weeks?

Also a couple of pics of Eleanor and Ladybird. They don't stay still very long for pictures so I was able to practice with the "sports" mode a little to take pictures quickly!

These pictures aren't perfect yet but I will be working on it over the next few weeks.

Finally, Jasper and Ladybird in a howling contest. :)

Another Diaper Savings Post

I know I just posted about a great savings on diapers from Amazon but I got more diapers at such a great price that I can't resist posting about it again. More Amazon coupons have come out in the March pregnancy and baby magazines so I decided to make another purchase. Some of the coupons (the ones that start with YT) can only be used once per account. Luckily setting up subscriptions is easy and I have lots of old e-mail addresses I don't use anymore that are still active. So I set up two additional Subscribe and Save accounts. For each subscription I ordered another large box of Pampers Sensitive Swaddlers, one size 1 and one size 2. They both retailed for just under $40 each. For both purchases I used another YJ and YT coupon for 20% off with each. I also had two $10 Amazon coupons that I got from Baby Talk magazine (they give this magazine out for free at Babies R Us and other baby boutique stores). Here was the breakdown of my transactions:

That's right I got 322 diapers that retail for $79.08 for the price of $3.94 and free 2 day shipping! That is a lot of diapers and I think I will stop the stockpile for awhile. Now I just need to find a place to store them all.

Less than 50 days to go!

So I hit 33 weeks yesterday and now have less than 50 days to go until my due date! This last month or so has gone by so quickly and I can't believe we are this close. Well I can't believe it until I look down at my never ending belly, that usually clues me in.

I have been really busy trying to finish up things at work and get the nursery and the rest of the house ready for Baby Bird. There is something to this nesting, I have never had the urge to clean, organize and cook so much in my life. Speaking of cooking, last weekend I went down to my parents house and did some major cooking (with their help of course because let's face it, I'm not that great in the kitchen).

I had decided I wanted to do some freezer meals before this little one arrives. I don't like cooking now and really doubt I will want to cook anymore after he gets here. I started by reviewing this great cooking blog as she had an entire section of how to do freezer meals. Then my mom and I spent a Saturday trying many of the recipes out.

Here was the starting point, lots of groceries.

Here are just a few of the meals me made.

Pizza Rolls

Pesto Chicken Stuffed Pasta Shells

Cheddar and Cracker Chicken

Breakfast Burritos

Each meal is in a freezer storage container and the pastas are in containers that go straight into the oven. Plus there is a note on each with what the meal is, directions to prepare it, and when it was made. Here was the finished product.

The other meals we made were Beef Dip Sandwiches, Chicken Parmesan Meatloaf, Cornflake Chicken Tenders, and Pasta Milano.

While my freezer doesn't yet look like this. I am still going to make more meals and will get close! My next goal is to make some sauces to pour over pasta.
